A Well-traveled Quilt
I’m a bit jealous of my 1812 Quilt—it’s getting to do quite a bit of traveling over the course of the next year. It’s one of 25 of the ~130 quilts from the show that was chosen to go traveling to various shows and museums.
This coming weekend, it will be in Upper Canada Village for their Fantastic Fibres and Quilt Show weekend. I’m kicking myself for never renewing my passport/getting an enhanced license to go across the border, as UCV is a reasonable day trip for us (and I loved it when we went there before these pesky new requirements were in effect).
It’ll also be headed down the eastern seaboard later in the year.
August 16–19, it’ll be in Manchester, NH for the World Quilt Show – New England.
Then, it’s heading to Philadelphia, PA for the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, held September 13 – 16. We’ve been wanting to go to Philly for a while, so I hope we can make it to this one.
Moving on to 2013, February 21–24, to be exact, the quilts will be shown at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in Hampton, VA.
Then finally, they move on to The Quilt Fest of New Jersey in Somerset, NJ, February 28 – March 3.
There really were many wonderful quilts in the exhibit, and I’m still a bit amazed that mine is in the traveling group. I hope one of these shows is near you!
