Your E-mail Address

Your e-mail address is required to post comments, however I promise not to share or sell this information. It’s so that I can verify that you’re human or get in touch to answer a question. I’m the only one that sees it. To reiterate: I will absolutely not give away, share, or sell your e-mail address. I’d rather have your trust than their money. More on comments ⇓

Analytics and Tracking

Like many other websites, raevenfea.com makes use of log files. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol ( IP ) addresses, type of browser, Internet Service Provider ( ISP ), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses, and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.

Additionally, raevenfea.com makes use of the Google Analytics Javascript-enabled tracking to provide additional information about visitors, content viewed and trends.

Code from Tynt.com is used to track copy events on this website. Information about what is copied is saved, and a citation is appended to any copied content. You can opt out of Tynt tracking on this and all other sites at Tynt.com

How do we use private info?

As covered in the Analytics and Tracking section, I use log files and Google Analytics tracking to see trends, keywords, and traffic patterns for the site. Mostly, I use this to see how to improve my posts to suit what people are searching for.

As for advertising, well, it is helpful to cover some of the costs of hosting this site.

I absolutely do not sell any information I gather, either from tracking or comment posting.

More on Comments

A great blog includes great discussion in the comments by visitors. I aspire to have a great blog some day. Unfortunately, spam is pervasive, so I do a few things to keep as much of it off the site as possible. One part of that is moderating all comments (although I do whitelist). I like discussion. I love constructive criticism. I despise people who go about disparaging anyone with an alternate view, revile people who talk and act like they have the mentality of a 14 year old boy that talks of nothing but his little boy bits, and am bored by persons who have absolutely nothing to add to the conversation. If your comment could be construed as one of those three types, I reserve the right to remove it at whim. Frankly, I reserve the right to remove any comment on a whim, but that would just be so despotic, and I prefer to delete only with good reason.

As mentioned above, your e-mail address will not be shared with anyone. At present,  URLs submitted in the provided field will be displayed as live links, however I do reserve the right to add a nofollow to said link if I find myself unwilling to donate link juice to the page. I doubt that will ever happen, but a warning is in order because I am sure someone would complain if it happened. So, you are forewarned, don’t come whining to me later, please. It’s not a good way to get your way. Any link inside of an approved comment will be nofollowed by default, a default that will only be overridden if I am feeling especially enamored of the linked content.

  • This is an almost completely arbitrary list of blogs I’ve remembered to add so far. I follow so many wonderful ones. I’ll try to keep adding them, but if I showed you all of them, this list would stretch to next week! At last count, I have over 70 quilting/fabric blogs and another 50+ sewing ones in my Google Reader subscriptions, but perhaps some housecleaning is in order…
