American Duchess to the rescue. Their third historical reproduction shoe is similar to styles from 1790–1810—in other words, about as perfect as you can get to the proper footwear for the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Quilt Show in March. They’re dyeable leather, so you can make them match whatever you’re planning to wear.

As with the previous shoes, these must sell enough during the pre-sale to go into production. The pre-sale is running from Today (November 25) through December 9. I asked, and Lauren said they should ship in January, so you’ll have plenty of time to get them ready for the show in March! Buying them during the pre-sale garners you a discount and the insurance of being able to order your size, so really, there’s no reason to wait.

I also hear that there is going to be a giveaway soon, so check in to American Duchess’ blog during the next couple of weeks to learn more about that. (Plus, she has other great posts, like how to tie a Regency turban…) Don’t worry, I won’t be competition there. You know those people who always seem to win giveaways? Yeah, I’m their natural balance non-winner. The one prize I’ve actually won in recent years never even came!

These are on my early Christmas list. My previous plan was to try to revive a pair of ratty flats I bought for about $5 at Target while on vacation two years ago and then proceeded to wear until the seams split. To my mostly untrained eye, they’re the right shape, if lacking the proper side-seams and heel. I figured a bit of glue, fabric, and ribbon, and they’d be workable. But the Pemberleys are even better, so I’m quite excited. Now to get back to stay making, quilting, and gown construction…

And, while you’re dreaming of your Regency wardrobe and accoutrements (or better yet, working on them), don’t forget to fill out the official registration form for the quilt challenge by February 19, 2012. The sooner, the better, right?

P.S. She just updated the shoe page on the blog to show more upcoming styles. OMG, I am in lust with the Edwardian strappy pumps in a way you just can’t understand. Can. not. wait. So, expect a post about those when they come out because I won’t be able to restrain myself.

  • This is an almost completely arbitrary list of blogs I’ve remembered to add so far. I follow so many wonderful ones. I’ll try to keep adding them, but if I showed you all of them, this list would stretch to next week! At last count, I have over 70 quilting/fabric blogs and another 50+ sewing ones in my Google Reader subscriptions, but perhaps some housecleaning is in order…
